This is an amendment
to 16.28.5 NMAC, Section 8, effective 3/27/2021.
16.28.5.8 STANDARDS
OF PRACTICE:
A. NON-DISCRIMINATION: The licensee shall provide interpreting
services with objectivity and with respect for the unique needs and values of
an individual; the licensee shall avoid discrimination on the basis of factors
that are irrelevant to the provision of interpreting services, including, but
not limited to race, creed, sex, age or disability.
B. CREDENTIALS: The
licensee shall accurately represent [his] their professional
qualifications and credentials;
C. COMPLIANCE WITH LAW:
The licensee shall comply with all laws and regulations concerning the
profession.
D. PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT:
(1) Interpreters
adhere to standards of confidential communication.
(2) Interpreters
possess the professional skills and knowledge required for the specific
interpreting situation.
(3) Interpreters
conduct themselves in a manner appropriate to the specific interpreting
situation.
(4) Interpreters
demonstrate respect for consumers.
(5) Interpreters
demonstrate respect for colleagues, interns, and students of the profession.
(6) Interpreters
maintain ethical business practices.
(7) Interpreters
engage in professional development.
